MOUNT CARMEL ENGLISH High School – SELLUR is a private, unaided school that was established in 2004 in a rural area of KARAIKAL block in Puducherry. The school caters to students from grades 1 to 12 and has a co-educational system with an attached pre-primary section. The medium of instruction used in this school is English, providing a strong foundation in the language for the students
Mount Carmel English High School is a school that was established in the year 2004 with the aim of providing quality education to underprivileged students. The school began with 54 students and was recognized for the primary section in the academic year 2004-2005. The first Headmistress of the school was Rev. Sr. Guna Seeli CTC, who worked tirelessly to ensure the school’s success.
Over the years, the school has made significant progress due to the efforts of the management and staff. The school was upgraded to a Middle School in the academic year 2010-2011 and to a High School in 2013-2014. Today, the school has over 600 students who benefit from its quality education and value system.
The school has a private building with 12 classrooms and 2 other rooms for non-teaching activities. All the classrooms are in good condition, and there is a separate room for the headmaster/teacher. The school has a Pucca boundary wall and an electric connection. However, the school does not have a source of drinking water, which could be a concern.
The school has separate functional toilets for boys and girls, a playground, and a library with 847 books. The school has seven functional computers for teaching and learning purposes, but it does not have a computer-aided learning lab.
